Staying Home During COVID-19

Apr 24, 2020

I need to be alone for certain amounts of time or I violate my own rhythm. -Lee Krasner

I always considered myself an extrovert. Not a life of the party extrovert or anything , but that I *needed* to be around small groups of people regularly to stay balanced. My energy came from being with others. I wasn't a fan of silence. But, after completing some intentional, intense therapy several years ago, that all changed. Once I got to the root of insecurities and false beliefs, I all of a sudden felt okay to be alone. I no longer craved the distraction of others because there was no longer anything internal to run from. That's incredible freedom! Now, I sure cherish some quality time with those I love and still enjoy it regularly, but I am learning how to respect my need (even craving!) to be still. Or, like the above quote, it is a violation.

So, what's been your favorite way to slow down or practice solitude during this time of quarantine?

Health as Harmony

Apr 22, 2020

Health is a state of complete harmony of the body, mind, and spirit. When one is free from physical disabilities and mental distractions, the gates of the soul open. -BKS Iyengar

Who believes more open souls make the world a better place? When we take the time to heal ourselves and others, it impacts the entire world on a universal level. So, essentially, your and my wholeness, my dear, are vital to world peace.

Did COVID allow you to let go of anything unhealthy?

Apr 15, 2020

Never forget that walking away from something unhealthy is brave, even if you stumble a little on your way out the door. -Mandy Hale

Have you experienced this? Whether it's a toxic job, relationship, friendship or just letting go of something because it no longer serves you, it's truly brave to let go. And by doing so you are saying to yourself, to others and to the Universe, that you deserve better, are worth more and so are they. So, to you #bravesouls. When we take better care of ourselves, we take better care of the entire world.

Is there anything that this season of COVID forced out of your life that ended up being for your good?

Why a Holistic Approach to Health is Vital

Apr 06, 2020

The part can never be well, unless the whole is well. -Plato

Many times, I see patients that have a particular complaint like weight issues, depression, fatigue or anxiety. Often, there are no black and white answers. You see, illness or disease does not just exist in one area of the body. Often, the solutions are much more complex than just addressing one area - e.g.: diet and exercise for weight loss. Reclaiming health requires a holistic view that addresses all the areas that affect our lives. That certainly includes the foundation of healthy nutrition and movement, but also mind-body connection, environment, sleep and rest, social support, life purpose and meaning and medical and wellness care. Once these areas are surveyed, one can truly begin to get to the root of health concerns and on her or his way to reclaimed health. If you know someone who is looking for a provider to walk that journey with them and not just prescribe another medication, I'm your girl!

Have you downloaded The Burnout Remedy: Break Your Cycle of Overwhelm yet?

If not, grab it for free (holla!) on our site: HyggeHealthCo.com

Over the course of 12 pages, I outline the top 10 steps to implement to create more health, peace and happiness in your life. With the stress of current affairs, we could all use a little more of that now, am I right?!

A few years ago, my eyes were opened to a self-destructive pattern that I not only saw in myself, but also in the majority of patients I was seeing in primary care. As I explored this pattern, I discovered the remedy and realized it was also the foundation for creating an overall BETTER life. Without this in place, no amount of meditating, green smoothies or HIIT exercising could have their full impact.

This guide is something I poured a lot of heart into and if it can make your journey to health and vitality easier, I’d be soooo happy.

If you have read it, what’s the first step you’re wanting to trial? ...

Create the Life You Can't Wait to Wake Up To

Apr 01, 2020

Create the life you can't wait to wake up to. -Mantra Magazine

Happy April 1st! Ahhh, it’s not only the beginning of a new month but a new quarter and (pretty much) the beginning of a new season! The 1st quarter of this new decade is in the books, and whew, what a ride it's been! But, who knows, maybe we'll start to see parts of "normal" life return later this month? We can certainly hope.

For me, spring usually brings in surges of energy. The rebirth of the Earth is always such an inspiring fresh beginning. Doesn't it feel like awakening from winter’s cocoon to a world only full of possibilities?

This year, with COVID-19, it's certainly different. During these past few weeks of isolation, I've come to realize just how vital it is to guard my thoughts and focus on optimism. Holding onto hope has been my lifeline. What's been your saving grace during this unusual season?

I love these wise words from Mantra Magazine. I really love what it...

So, What is Hygge?

Mar 30, 2020

HYGGE: 1.The art of building sanctuary and community, of inviting closeness and paying attention to what makes us feel open-hearted and alive; 2. To create well-being, connection and warmth; 3. A feeling of belonging to the moment and to each other; 4. Celebrating the everyday.

Hello, Love! Isn’t Hygge such a beautiful concept? Downright swoon-worthy. It’s easy to understand why this Danish way of living has recently grown in such popularity. I remember the first time I read about hygge... It felt like coming home to myself. I felt seen and it was comforting to feel so aligned with something that existed without my knowing. It was like discovering a lost family member that I inherited all of the best traits from and we had hours of catching up to get to... fireside, with a quilt and cup of hot tea, of course!

As humans, one of our greatest psychological needs is to be seen. When was the last time you felt seen by your healthcare provider? When was the last time you...
